They’ve been here since the birth of the nation… Born in the autonomous State of Jammu and Kashmir, came as a teenager in the United States, and engaged for decades of understanding and trust of the religions. Most were then forced to convert to Christianity. The first mosque built in America was in, of all places, Ross, North Dakota, back in 1929. We should never treat everyone in a religion as if they are suspect because of the dark deeds of someone.

The identifications are voluntary and there could be more members of the Muslim faith. Muslim Americans are our friends and our neighbors, our co-workers, our sports heroes - and, yes, they are our men and women in uniform who are willing to die in defense of our country.
There have been Muslims involved in terrorism… They include the slaughter of more than 130 people in Paris and the massacre of 14 people here in the United States.
On the other hand, there have been calls for restrictions on Muslims, even genocide.
