Two guilty of Palestinian’s murder

Two Palestinians suspected of the murder of the three Israeli teenagers – Naftali Fraenkel and Gilad Shaar, both aged 16, and 19-year-old Eyal Yifrach – were killed by Israeli forces in a gun-battle at their hideout in Hebron in September 2014.

Sixteen-year-old Muhammad Abu Khudair was kidnapped and killed in the early morning of 2 July 2014, the day after the funeral for three Israeli teenagers who had been kidnapped and killed while hitchhiking in the occupied West Bank. The two accomplices, beat the Palestinian teen unconscious in the back of a auto being driven by Ben David, according to their court confessions.

Judged said one of the minors threw petrol over Abu Khdair while he was still alive, before Mr Ben David lit a match and set him on fire. Israel has been up in arms since the European Union announced last month that goods produced in settlements must have special labels and can not say they were made in Israel. At least 99 Palestinians have been killed, including 64 said by Israel to be attackers.

Israel immediately blamed the kidnappings on militants from Hamas, the Islamist movement that controls Gaza, rounding up hundreds of suspected members in the West Bank.

The family of a murdered Arab teen has blasted an Israeli court for stalling the conviction of the ringleader of the gruesome crime.

Prosecutor Uri Corb vowed to fight any insanity plea.

The Magen David Adom first-aid service said paramedics arrived at the scene and treated a man, said to be in his 40s, who was suffering from light injuries to his hand.

Many Israelis say the reprisal killing, which was broadly condemned as it exposed Israel to charges that it turned a blind eye toward Jewish extremism appalled them.

His murder contributed to the start of Israel’s 50-day war on Gaza a few weeks later, which killed more than 2,200 Palestinians.

The two convicted are 18 now but were 16 when they were charged in July 2014, with one from Jerusalem and the other from the Israeli town of Beit Shemesh. “I am afraid that the court will release them (suspects) in the end”.

The Jerusalem District Court found the two minors guilty of murder yesterday but accept a petition by David’s lawyers to delay his sentencing on the grounds of insanity.

“I don’t think we will ever get justice from this court for the killing of Mohammed”, he said.

There is also the lawlessness of Israel’s extrajudicial killings of Palestinians who are suspected of a crime, or caught carrying out a crime.

Asher Ohayon, Mr Ben David’s attorney, submitted at the last minute a psychiatric opinion which said he had not been responsible for his activities during the period of the homicide.

Adnan Al-Husseiny, minister of Jerusalem affairs in the Palestinian government, talked to media after they found the body saying that this cruel murder of the child, burning him alive is cruel, and he remarked how the tension between Israeli and Palestinian would escalate quickly because of that.
