Nats are the mystery team in on Jason Heyward
The second report came from Andrew Baggarly as he reported that the San Francisco Giants expect Heyward to make a decision on Thursday.

Nationals: The Nationals’ involvement with Heyward was a revelation Thursday, first reported by Jon Heyman of CBS Sports and subsequently confirmed by a major-league source.
Although Washington has a full outfield right now with Jayson Werth in left, Michael Taylor in center and Bryce Harper in right, it’s been speculated that the Nats could make a run at Heyward for a few reasons. Heyward, 26, is thought to be seeking something close to $200 million over nine or 10 years. Signing Heyward would assure a href=”https://twitter.com/hashtag/Nationals?src=hash” #Nationals /a of long-term OF piece.
If the Cubs sign Heyward – or another prominent free-agent outfielder – they could package right fielder Jorge Soler with additional players in an offer to the Cleveland Indians for one of their hard-throwing right-handed starters, Danny Salazar or Carlos Carrasco.
The Cubs have been rumored to be in on Heyward for days now, and the talks are heating up at the MLB’s Winter Meetings. Or they could try and deal Soler for a big arm.
In what some might call a stunning move, Jason Heyward has a new serious suitor in the Angels.
