Turkey accuses Russia of ‘ethnic cleansing’ in Syria
Russian Federation on Wednesday (Dec 9) invited British experts to help analyse the black box of a warplane downed by Turkey, as President Vladimir Putin and British Prime Minister David Cameron agreed to cooperate over Syria.

It stars Russia’s air force and its variety of military aircraft, including about 30 jets and bombers with names like “Frogfoot”, “Fencer” and “Flanker”, as well as some 20 helicopters.
Shoigu, who was speaking during President Vladimir Putin’s meeting with top military brass, said that the navy received two new nuclear-powered submarines equipped with intercontinental ballistic missiles, two general-purpose submarines and eight surface warships so far this year.
Earlier this week, Russian Federation hit targets near Raqqa, the Islamic State’s de facto capital, with cruise missiles launched from an advanced stealth submarine in the Mediterranean Sea.
Davutoglu said Russian bombing around Azaz, also in northwest Syria, was created to cut supply lines to Syrian groups opposed to Assad, Moscow’s ally, and ultimately to benefit Islamic State militants.
Turkey claims it shot down the Russian Su-24 jet last month because it repeatedly ignored warnings not to encroach into its airspace.
He said Friday at a meeting with the top military brass that the extremists pose a “clear threat” to Russian Federation.
The advanced notice on the cruise missiles was “an additional measure of safety”, said Cook. Putin has praised the Russian cruise missiles fired against the militant group from the sea, and added that he hopes these weapons would not have to be armed with nuclear warheads. In another video shared on social media, Russia’s MOD shows crew members readying the ship before firing 26 missiles.
“A decision was taken not to give a symmetrical answer to what the Turks had done”, he said.
President Putin said the new cruise missiles could also be equipped with nuclear warheads – but that he hoped they would never need them. “Our belief is that just as we operate in close coordination with and with the consent of the Iraqi government that all countries should do that”.
This is the first time that Kalibr and KH-101 cruise missiles have been deployed by Russian Federation during its strikes against targets in Syria. He added that Israel and the U.S. had been informed before the air strikes were launched.
Following the 2008 war in Georgia, Russia projected an air of victory.
“What did 20th-century countries used to do in a similar situation?”

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in a call with his U.S. counterpart John Kerry on Wednesday, said they needed to draw up a list of “terrorist groups that we must not talk to and that we must fight together”, his ministry said.
