Celtics next to take aim at streaking Warriors

Now in the closing stages of a seven-game road trip, Golden State can overtake the 2012-2013 Miami Heat’s record for the second-longest regular season winning streak in National Basketball Association history by beating the Boston Celtics on Friday night followed by a visit with the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.

“This is a business, and because of the salary cap and things like that, it was time for me to move on, and that’s what I did”, Lee said.

The Celtics understand that their challenge will be daunting and that the rest of the basketball world will be watching, but they are being careful not to get swept up in the hysteria. “Going in I felt great, I felt like I was due for a game like that”, Thompson told the Daily News. Confetti will not rain from the rafters if they win, and their season will not end if they lose. The idea, naturally, is to keep legs fresh for the postseason, and since the Warriors have virtually assured themselves of a playoff spot even before Christmas, the onus will be on the staff to take all necessary precautions and not push players for the sake of The Streak.

Warriors – SG Klay Thompson (Probable, ankle), SG Leandro Barbosa (Questionable, illness), SF Harrison Barnes (Mid December, ankle), SF Kevon Looney (Late January, hip). “They’re undefeated. But we can’t look at it as a Super Bowl”.

Acknowledging the fact that they have learned to win games in all sorts of ways, Curry in the interview says, “Individually, everybody’s taken their game up a notch”. It’s innate now. We’ve learned how to win games in all sorts of ways.

Throughout the streak the Warriors have dropped opponents by an average of 13.3 points per game, claiming 15 games by 10 or more points and three by 20 or more, and they don’t seem perturbed or shaken by hostile crowds.

Warriors guard Klay Thompson, who is averaging 18.2 points per game, will be a game-time decision as he recovers from a sprained ankle he suffered in Tuesday’s win over the Pacers.

But, Crowder said, “We are very confident group”. “Their attention to detail is great”. And they still make really tough shots.

David Lee said he has no regrets over the offseason trade that sent him to the Celtics.

“How many times are you going to get the opportunity to do that?”

“It’s just another kind of testament to the changes we made. We’re in a good state”. A stacked Golden State team may prevent Curry from reaching the heights Jordan did as an individual. Following their game Tuesday night against the Indiana Pacers Thompson repeatedly stated that he would be fine to play Friday night. “So you’ve got to embrace it, just appreciate the moment”.

“We know they’re an explosive team”, he said of the Celtics.
