Jets place Catapano on IR, add Martin to active roster

Wednesday’s practice was an encouraging site for the New York Jets as their top cornerback, Darrelle Revis, was back outside with the team for the first time in two weeks. He attended meetings Friday for the first time since the injury after previously only coming to the facility to receive treatment before being sent home each day. Coach Todd Bowles said after the game Catapano may have injured his Lisfranc ligament.

Revis said he’s eager to return, but emphasized the importance of making sure he’s completely healthy before returning. Revis suffered a concussion while making a tackle on a running play in the third quarter of the Jets’ loss to Houston on November 22. My job is to get back healthy and get back on the field.

“You can’t play around with these things”, Revis said. He said he’s not anxious about possible long-term ramifications. That’s how I look at it. You don’t wish a concussion or any type of injury on anybody. “They keep me grounded”.

The Jets (7-5), who went 2-0 without Revis, face the Tennessee Titans (3-9) at MetLife Stadium.

“He got beat against Hopkins, but he was playing pretty well before that, ” Bowles said.

Revis returned to the practice field on Thursday, though he did not face any contact. It looked like it was worse than it was. “You have one, they’re all the same”.

Buster Skrine started in Revis’ place against the Giants after backup Marcus Williams was also scratched with a sprained knee.

“We’re planning on him playing, that’s what we’re doing”, said Titans interim coach Mike Mularkey, whose team took the same approach with Jacksonville’s Allen Hurns last week.
