In the first, an Israeli soldier and a bystander were wounded in a West Bank gun attack, the army said, before the assailant, reportedly a member of the Palestinian security forces, was shot dead.

Abbas painted the two-month wave of almost daily attacks on Israelis as an organic, grassroots phenomenon, not as something dictated from above.

Four-year-old Ahmed Dawabsheh, the elder son, is still receiving treatment after sustaining burns to 60 percent of his body.

Hebrew graffiti reading “revenge” was sprayed on the walls of the home, indicating that the attackers were possibly Jewish.

Since the violence erupted, 19 Israelis have been killed in Palestinian attacks, mostly stabbings and shootings.

Palestinians have said the slow pace of the investigation into the murders is evidence of an unfair justice system, while noting that probes into Palestinians suspected of violence move quickly and carry harsher consequences, including home demolitions that rights groups say is collective punishment. At least 105 Palestinians have also died, including 70 said by Israel to be attackers.

The attack led to widespread condemnation globally.

Israel Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon said in September that police knew who the attackers were, but prosecuting them immediately would be too hard.

The violence has included Palestinian knife, gun and car-ramming attacks.

The Israeli media, meanwhile, reported that a 20-year-old Israeli soldier was critically wounded after he was stabbed by a Palestinian young man near the settlement of Nowa Tsuf, north of Ramallah.

Palestinian security sources said the gunman was a member of the Palestinian Authority’s security forces.

Two more attacks occurred on Thursday.

While Trump wouldn’t say whether he was referring to the Israelis or the Palestinians, he said the chances for a lasting peace rest with Israel.

While the three settlers, Meir Ettinger, Mordechai Meyer and Eviatar Slonim, had a history of attacks on Palestinians, they were not explicitly accused in the Dawabsha case.

The soldiers fired dozens of gas bombs, many of which were fired directly into Palestinian homes where women and children had sheltered to escape the gas in the streets.

Rescue services said one person suffered both stabbing and bullet wounds, and Rosenfeld said the latter was likely a result of accidental police fire, with the officer hit in the ankle.
