Montana woman sues Costco, supplier in E. coli outbreak
It was filed on behalf of a woman (Plaintiff) claiming she was sickened in an outbreak of E. coli illnesses allegedly linked to “Costco Rotisserie Chicken Salad” made with Taylor Farms celery. Pritzker|Olsen is a national food safety law firm with offices centrally located at 45 South 7th Street, Suite 2950, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55402.

As a result, “Taylor Farms Pacific, Inc., voluntarily recalled multiple products containing celery”, the agency said.
On November 2, 2015, Plaintiff developed symptoms of an E. coli infection, including bloody diarrhea, according to the complaint.
A celery-onion blend included in a rotisserie chicken salad from Costco stores is the probable culprit behind an ongoing E.coli outbreak and has been recalled, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday.
23, 19 people infected with the outbreak strain have been reported from seven states. Testing determined she had an E. coli O157:H7 infection. These are California, Colorado, Virginia, Missouri, Washington, Utah and Montana.
The vegetable blend has been recalled, as Taylor Farms says, “out of an abundance of caution”, on Thursday, in addition to a longer list of products which use the mix and the outlets selling them. All manufacturers, distributors, processors, and retailers have a legal duty to sell products that are safe to eat.
“Any chicken salad from Costco should be regarded as contaminated product”.
Through this case we hope to shed light on where, when, and how so many people contracted E. coli infections, and ultimately stop it from happening again.
This is one of those strains of E. coli that can result in subsequent kidney failure, especially among children.
The symptoms of hemolytic uremic syndrome include pale skin, lethargy, little or no urine output, easy bruising, bleeding from the nose and mouth, and a skin rash.
