On Tuesday, a team of 30 officers, along with search dogs and drones, fanned out in the desolate area about 200 miles south of Salt Lake City looking for him, Grand County Sheriff Steven White said. Reports say there was no sign of foul play on the body.

Frigid weather in the area might have been a factor, White said. Temperatures in the area have been in the 30s during the day and in the high teens and low 20s at night, he added. Yesterday, Kristin Cavallari confirmed via a statement to PEOPLE that authorities had located her older brother’s body.

Kristin posted a childhood photo of herself and Michael on Instagram with a caption that reads: “My heart is in a million pieces”.

“I’m at a loss for words, but I know u are in a better place and finally at peace”, she wrote. “I love u so much”. Authorities identified Michael as the driver after finding credit card receipts in the vehicle, which led them to a convenience store in Monticello, Utah. The still-running car’s airbag had deployed with his cell phone still inside.

Kristin Cavallari’s brother Michael Cavallari likely died from exposure to the elements, law enforcement sources reportedly told TMZ.

Investigators believed he was just passing through Utah, but didn’t know where he was headed or what he was doing in Utah. Michael was later released and bailed out from Orange County Jail the morning of November 25. Two days later, a rancher discovered the auto stuck against a small embankment off a dirt road about 5 miles from Interstate 70.

“It’s like he just vanished”, White said.
