Young Protester Speaks Out Against Police Brutality in San Francisco
The lawsuit filed in San Francisco federal court seeks unspecified damages.

The recent shooting of Woods is being compared to the recent police shooting deaths in Chicago of La Quan MacDonald and Ron Johnson, who were both shot in the back while moving away from police.
The gunshot wounds to Woods’ body, Burris said, show that he was shot in the back of his head, as well as in the front and back of his body by “a hail of bullets”. The new video of Mario Woods being killed seems to go against the initial claims from police after the December 2 shooting that the five officers shot Woods in self defense.
Below is the third video from a different angle, obtained by Burris’s office from a “confidential source”.
Video of the shooting, uploaded on social media, showed about a dozen officers in a stand-off with Woods in San Francisco’s Bay View neighborhood.
Suhr has said publicly that Woods raised his arm holding a knife in an aggressive manner before officers opening fire.
The incident was captured on video and circulated widely online, prompting some to call for Police Chief Greg Suhr to resign. Burris says the enhanced videos confirm public sentiment that Woods did not threaten the police before he was senselessly gunned down.
Civil rights attorney John Burris along with Woods’ family held a press conference Friday to disclose new medical information and video findings. At one point, an officer shifts position into Woods’ path as he continues to walk down the sidewalk.
Burris said the lawsuit aims to prove that what happened to Woods was unlawful and also aims to change any policies carried out by the Police Department that are found to be unconstitutional.
Police have not yet released information on how many rounds were fired at Woods and the San Francisco medical examiner’s office has not released how many bullets struck Woods.
