Expore 360-Degree Flickr Pics With Samsung’s Gear VR
Tech enthusiasts have been debating the merits of various virtual reality headsets for well over a year now, and the first headsets are finally coming to market in the next six months. He added, “Flickr is the best platform for 360° photos because we respect the image quality of uploaded photos, and we want to be one of the best ways to access engaging virtual reality experiences”. Just pop on the Gear VR and open Flickr’s new app; it’ll be the closest thing to feeling like you’re actually there, and a nice way to scope out a vacation spot before you actually go. It’s exclusively compatible with the Samsung Gear VR, a $199 virtual reality headset developed by Samsung and Facebook-owned Oculus VR. Select any image and you’ll instantly be transported to another place and time. Over the past few weeks multiple services have launched their virtual reality iterations for the Gear VR so headset owners aren’t really pressed for content that much. This will take 360-degree photos on the platform to a whole new level.

Some of the panoramic photos already available on Flickr depict breathtaking views of the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, in the Arctic Circle, and Horseshoe Bend on the Colorado River in Arizona.
The Flickr VR app sources the images directly from the user database although how the company will be moving forward and expanding its 360 photo sharing viewing service is a little unclear at the moment. Flickr VR will allow users to view individual sections of these panoramic photos, organizing them in a carousel fashion based on their ranking on the website. Flickr also promises new features and experiences for 360-degree photos on VR headsets, web and mobile are in the works.

The new app can be downloaded on the Oculus Store.
