Newspaper columnist injured when Iowa State fans storm Hilton court
They really can. Just look at this game, or their matchup with Notre Dame (especially late), Wichita State or even Marquette.

The fourth-ranked Cyclones pulled off another stunner on Thursday, beating back the rival Hawkeyes with a furious late surge.
Hilton Magic was in full swing yet again for No. 4 Iowa State, as the Cyclones erased a 20-point deficit in the second half to beat the Iowa Hawkeyes on Thursday 83-82 in Ames.
Rob Carolla said Iowa State University “handled its postgame celebration protocol consistent with Big 12 Conference Rules related to sportsmanship and ethical conduct”.
AMES, Iowa (AP) The Big 12 says it won’t discipline Iowa State after students stormed the basketball court in a scene that left a newspaper columnist with a broken leg.
“In fairness, we still fo not know exactly what happened”. Well, they held Uthoff to just two points in the second half, but Monte Morris’ runner with just seconds remaining sealed the deal. And then Gesell missed a shot, and Morris drove left, stopped mid-lane and floated a 5-footer over a soft Iowa defense – and wait, what?
Peterson said he wouldn’t want to see fans unable to celebrate like this.
The Cyclones couldn’t find anyone early on who could slow down Uthoff.
Chris Kendrix and Dorrian Williams added 19 points apiece and Dequon Miller had 15 for Missouri State (3-5), which forced 16 turnovers and went 23 of 27 from the line. Fans of Kansas State stormed the court, causing KSU head coach Bruce Weber to help security protect members of Kansas’ basketball team.
“That’s ‘Big Game Tay, ‘” McKay said, referencing Morris’s nickname. As long as he was taking it, it was going in. In fact, their defense was so incredible that they held Uthoff to only 2 (!!!!!!) second half points.
Three Cardinals scored in double-figures, led by Nathalie Fontaine (28) and Moriah Monaco (16).
After shooting 59.4 percent in the first half, Iowa shot just 36.4 percent in the second half. After a Jok jumper, six more consecutive Cyclones points made it a one-point game with about six minutes to play. The Hawkeyes played quickly but under control, moved the ball efficiently in the half court and found open shooters. Coach Steve Prohm is now the first Iowa State coach to start his tenure with eight consecutive wins. It was a great moment. That all changed once Jared Uthoff got heated up.Uthoff absoultely blitzed the Cyclones defense for 30 points by the time it was halftime.
