Disappointing DE Damontre Moore released by Giants for ‘discipline-related reasons’
The New York Giants cut third-year defensive end Damontre Moore for a violation of team rules Friday, according to ESPN’sDan Graziano. Moore, a disappointing 2013 third-round pick who had already been frustrating the Giants, didn’t get a pair.

“We made the move today in the interest of both parties”, Giants general manager Jerry Reese said. He recorded 5.5 sacks in 16 games with the Giants last season, recording 32 tackles and batting down two passes. The reason for Moore’s release is not yet known.
The most public of Moore’s transgressions was in the October game against the Eagles when he picked up and body-slammed Sam Bradford after the quarterback had released a pass. He was fined $20,000 by the National Football League for the infraction and did not play in the following game.
Moore had three sacks this season and 23 combined tackles.
This year, again as a situational pass rusher, Moore has recorded three sacks and 17 tackles while forcing one fumble and recovering another.
Notes & quotes: Left tackle Ereck Flowers (ankle) was limited in practice on Friday. He never seemed to take the next step and he ran afoul of the coaching staff with several silly penalties.
The Giants apparently had enough of Damontre Moore’s antics. Meanwhile, Moore is a very poor man’s Aldon Smith, which is as good as you can get until Smith himself comes back late next year.
Moore has shown he has talent, and despite the reported altercation will likely have at least a few teams interested in him.

The Giants did not immediately announce a replacement for Moore on their roster.
