Facebook Will Protect Muslims – Zuckerberg

In a Facebook post published on Wednesday, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg voiced his support for Muslims all across the world, putting forth argument that it is incorrect to discriminate against Muslims because of the actions of extremists.

This comment is especially interesting as it comes after Feinstein accused Facebook of failing to alert authorities of a pledge of allegiance to ISIS made on the social network by one of the San Bernardino attackers.

“I’ve reported multiple posts for racism against Muslims and Facebook have deemed them to be free speech and left them”.

Controversial right-wing 2016 United States presidential candidate Donald Trump has rather vocally called for a complete ban on Muslims entering the country, proving that America, on the whole, is still somewhat ignorant of the culture of the Muslim community, allowing their fear of terrorism to enable them to stereotype an entire religion.

The post received almost 1.2 million likes in its first 17 hours online. “Even if an attack isn’t against you today, in time attacks on freedom for anyone will hurt everyone”.

“As a Jew, my parents taught me that we must stand up against attacks on all communities”, he continued.

I want to add my voice in support of Muslims in our community and around the world. “We can’t stop hoping, and we can’t stop standing together for the good of us all, for the good of the world, and to build a better world for all people”, he ends. “Having a child has given us hope, but we hate seeing all of this hate”.

It’s likely that Zuckerberg will receive some backlash for this, specifically from Trump supporters, and from people who will want him to do more. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement that he “rejects” Trump’s remarks about Muslims.
