Van Gaal defiant in face of United crisis

Last season United were defeated 4-0 by MK Dons in the second-round of the Capital One Cup and this season they lost to Championship side Middlesbrough in the fourth round.

Defensively United were a huge letdown considering their fine goals against record in the Premier League, while van Gaal’s decisions to field a number of youngsters and take off Juan Mata – the only player on their side who seemed capable of making something happen – were occasionally mystifying.

“It’s not as if they’ve won a competition to play in the Premier League”. When you’re a player you can feel it, you can see it. The 10 games I played I thought I played very well apart from [a 5-3 defeat to] Leicester. It’s hard to know. That is much more important than what we are talking about, me as a manager or lifting up the players.

Van Gaal reportedly sent scouts to watch the £30m-rated midfielder last week in the Europa League, according to the Mirror.

United have dropped into the Europa League following their elimination at the hands of Wolfsburg, though will have to wait until Monday to discover their fate in the next round.

To achieve the same feat in England with United will be harder according to the Dutchman, who thinks the gap is closing between the clubs at the top and bottom of the Premier League and across Europe.

Manchester United are struggling with a lengthy injury list at present but Van Gaal says the trio should be fully fit when Chelsea visit Old Trafford. But United have to respond to the criticism that is following them around at the moment which is why I think they will win this. When I analyse that game, in the first half we missed so many chances.

Now that United will play their matches on Thursday nights, during European weeks they’ll have their Premier League games on Sundays.

Louis van Gaal believes the only reason why he is facing scrutiny at Manchester United is because the club’s expectations are so high, as per BBC Sport. I can not change what is in your mind. Every club can also buy a player.

“The facts say we are better than a year ago”.

“Because you can see that as a positive”. We had in our attack Memphis 21, Lingard 22, Martial, 20 yet still we hurt the number two of Germany.

“Within two days we have to beat Bournemouth”.

Bastian Schweinsteiger will also miss the match as he begins his three-match suspension for elbowing Winston Reid last Saturday, while Wayne Rooney looks set to miss out as he tries to bounce back from an unfortunate combination of injury and poor form.

Louis van Gaal has no doubts he can win trophies at Man United
