The plant is expected to create 4,500 jobs and is contingent on the approval of a US$250mil (RM1.07bil) incentive package by the Nevada state legislature, which would include tax abatements and tax credits. Last year, tax incentives helped Tesla Motors to build their battery “Giga Factory” in Northern Nevada. Faraday also said it plans to have cars on the road by 2017, the same time Tesla plans the launch of its Model 3. Nevada’s deal topped Georgia, Louisiana, and California in competition to house Faraday Future’s $1 billion plant.
Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval will hold a press conference on Thursday announcing the investment.
In collaboration with Faraday Future, Cushman & Wakefield’s consulting team evaluated over 100 properties, both brownfield and greenfield, in 10 USA states and portions of Mexico.
To accommodate the Faraday deal, the state will need to create a category for companies that spend at least $1 billion.
Faraday Future officials declined to say whether California offered such incentives, citing a nondisclosure agreement.
The total economic impact by the future plant is estimated at $85 billion over approximately 20 years.
Faraday’s industrial facility won’t be as enormous as the Giga factory, which guarantees to be the second biggest generation plant on the planet, however as indicated by an announcement executed by the organization today, it will even now be tantamount at three million square feet.
The state also is promising to build a flyover exit from U.S. Highway 93 into the Faraday campus and widen the highway for about five miles, a project expected to cost between $45 million and $50 million.
A training program is in the works to prepare up to 4,000 auto assembly workers for Faraday jobs.
