Majority of United States disagrees with Trump’s plan to ban Muslims
Trump, the Republican presidential front-runner, sparked intense backlash earlier this week when he proposed temporarily stopping virtually all Muslims from entering the U.S., including immigrants and tourists. Just above half of Republican primary voters (51%) gave Trump a thumbs up, and 26% did not, which was also almost the same as in the previous poll.

The survey found that 25 percent of Americans support the proposal and 18 percent have no opinion or are “not sure” about it.
Each morning the Republican Party establishment begins hyperventilating, awaiting nervously the next verbal expulsion from Donald Trump.
Trump’s call on Monday for “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States” has spurred global controversy and condemnation from many within the Republican party.
Among Republicans, however, 42 percent supported Trump’s proposal while 36 percent opposed it, even as other Republican presidential candidates, including Gov. Chris Christie, and public officials criticized him.
By comparison, 75 percent of Democrats and 55 percent of independents disagree with Trump’s proposal. Clinton doesn’t mince words, and says right off the bat: “You know, I have to say, Seth”.
The questions are different in each case, but while almost 60 percent of Americans view Muslims somewhat positively, about that same percentage views Trump negatively.
The poll also found that 41 per cent of Americans believe Mr Trump’s bombastic campaign statements in general are frequently insulting. Almost a quarter said his manner and language are problematic, but he’s raising important issues.

The poll was conducted by phone from December 4 to December 8 among 1,275 adults.
