Forces there “shot the attacker, resulting in his death”, it said, adding that no Israelis were hurt.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the man as Issa Hroub, 55, from the nearby village of Deir Samet.

Near Hebron, a large West Bank city where both anti-Israel activism and friction with Jewish settlers are strong, a Palestinian motorist tried to ram troops at a checkpoint who then shot him dead, the army said.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the victim as Sami Madi, in his 30s.

According to IMEMC, the Israeli soldiers targeted medics, opened fire on a Red Crescent ambulance causing damage to its windshield, and searched an ambulance while transferring a wounded Palestinian to a hospital.

The Israeli Security Agency, or Shin Bet, arrested the suspect with IDF and police officers in a West Bank village on Thursday night.

Earlier Friday, a Palestinian opened fire on the Gilboa crossing between Israel and the northern West Bank.

The way in which the Israeli government is responding to the current wave of Palestinian violence represents a “worrisome trend” of attacks on human rights, the Association of Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI) has said. She said Israeli forces were searching for the suspect who fled the scene in a van. She carried out the attack with another female relative, who was shot dead during the attack. Yesterday, protesters in Silwad northeast of Ramallah called for Israel to return the bodies.

Many of the Palestinians killed have been attackers, while others have been shot dead by Israeli security forces during clashes.

After Friday’s protest, clashes broke out between Palestinian stone throwers and soldiers, with six Palestinians wounded, an AFP correspondent said. Three Palestinians were shot during the clashes, one resident said.
