The English Football Association has banned Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger for three matches over violent conduct.
Referee Mark Clattenburg did not see the shove when it happened and did not mention it in his report.
Bastian Schweinsteiger is set to appeal after the FA’s decision to charge him caused widespread amazement among the refereeing fraternity.
“The player has until 12 noon on Thursday 10 December 2015 to reply to the charge”.
Germany coach Joachim Low has assured Bastian Schweinsteiger that he remains “undisputedly captain” despite Louis van Gaal’s criticism of him at Manchester United. Bilic also insisted it should have been a red card, but accepted it would have been hard for the referee to spot.
While speaking at the pre-match press conference alongside van Gaal, the 31-year-old former European Cup victor with Bayern Munich explained why he’s confident of gleaning a positive result. “The referee couldn’t see it, so we move on”.
Speaking of the incident after the game, Winston Reid said, “He knows what he’s done – he’s elbowed me in the face”.
United, who are a point above PSV Eindhoven in group B, head into final game against leaders Wolfsburg knowing a win against the German side would see them finish at the top.
It means that the east Londoners are unbeaten on road against the best in the land – and manager Slaven Bilic left the north west with a smile on his face.
“I am sure that Manchester United are still going to get a lot of joy out of Schweinsteiger”.

“Today was a massive frustration for us and it’s so disappointing when you dominate a game”, the United defender told MUTV.
