Trump, whose controversial calls to ban all Muslims from entering the country and disparaging remarks about Mexican immigrants have sparked outrage, has left the Republican establishment anxious that the party could be setting itself up for a landslide loss in November. Carson also stated that if the rumors of a brokered convention are true “I assure you Donald Trump won’t be the only one leaving the party”, Carson said in a statement.
According to sources at the dinner, a brokered convention was not the primary focus, but it was a topic of conversation.

In the latest CBS/New York Times poll, Trump leads as the choice of 35% of the respondents, more than double the 16% support received by his nearest competitor, Senator Ted Cruz.
“I am prepared to lose fair and square, as I am sure is Donald”.
This declaration came ahead of Tuesday’s GOP presidential debate when rumors emerged that Republican insiders were discussing the possibility of a brokered convention in July 2016 if Donald Trump continues to dominate the polls but has not become the clear nominee. “I will not sit by and watch a theft”. Even some on the right said Johnson’s response to Trump has been “tepid”. “I pray that the report in the Post this morning was incorrect”.
“Polls go up and down, when people were asking me when I was polling at the top spot was I excited, I said no, because polls go up and down, and I will say that now, I think you will see them continue to rise”, he told CNN.

In recent decades, presidential conventions have amounted to little more than pre cooked political theater together with the nominee months before, determined during states’ primary elections.
A poll of Republican voters in the early voting state of New Hampshire conducted by public television station WBUR found that Carson’s support has fallen to only 6.0 percent from 17 percent in mid-September.
Carson reiterated his pledge not to run against the Republican nominee during an appearance on Fox News’ Your World with Neil Cavuto later Friday, saying “I would never do that”.
Carson reacted Friday to a Washington Post story about a meeting between RNC Chairman Reince Priebus and members of the GOP establishment. “I would support any reasonable idea to find a better nominee”. “If the victor isn’t our nominee then we have a massive problem”, said Carson.

But other leaders, like House Speaker Paul Ryan, who has said Trump’s values don’t align with the Republican Party, may sway voters.
