Leading Iowa evangelical Bob Vander Plaats endorses Ted Cruz for president
“The one guy close to me in Iowa is Ted Cruz”, Trump said. “Oil pays him a lot of money and he’s got to be for it, right?”

“Perkins’ xenophobic and irresponsible spew has no place in American democracy but that won’t stop Ted Cruz from chasing after his credentials – in fact it’s hard to tell which of them is more reckless, hateful or extreme”, said Adrienne Watson, a spokesman for the Hillary Clinton-aligned super PAC Correct the Record. “I promise you”, Trump said.
For Cruz, it was a soft jab but a definite break for Cruz, who has repeatedly declined to criticize Trump publicly and has accused the media of trying to set up a “cage match” between the two. Now that’s a question of strength, but it’s also a question of judgement.
At a closed-door donor event, Cruz is heard questioning if either Trump or Carson have the proper judgment to become president, as heard on an audio recording provided by The New York Times.
During the fundraiser, Cruz also lumped Trump in with fellow candidate, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson.
Donald Trump remaining on top has the GOP nervous, but Ted Cruz is steadily rising. Marco Rubio have significant backing. A Monmouth University poll shows Cruz with a slight lead over Trump while a CNN/ORC poll shows Trump leading Cruz by 13 points. “I hope so, he will fall like all others”. He went on to say “Sorry to disappoint – realDonaldTrump is terrific”.
Trump’s campaign has been a weird and unhealthy sideshow, and his recent comments on banning Muslims from entering the country was, for many, the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Cruz said he likes and respects those two rivals, but then he said, “I don’t believe either one of them is going to be our president”, according to the other source. Cruz is positioning himself to soak up all of Trump’s supporters after his inevitable collapse.
It’s a big get for Cruz, whose poll numbers have been rising in Iowa and who has been angling for the state’s evangelical vote.

“If we are united, we will win”, he said. Cruz chided Rubio over supporting legislation which contained some ideas popular among Democrats, and that this was the reason he received so much support from outlets such as The Wall Street Journal: “There is no one – no conservatives in America who think The Wall Street Journal is the voice of conservatism”, Cruz said.
