On the Gaza border, a Palestinian was shot dead and 12 wounded in clashes with Israeli forces.

Al-Qedra said that 68 Palestinians were wounded by the Israeli fire, 58 of them were injured by live ammunition while 10 suffered suffocation.

Near Hebron, a large West Bank city where anti-Israel hostility is strong, a Palestinian motorist tried to ram troops who then shot him dead, the army spokesman’s office said.

Family refuted the Israeli claims saying that their daughter had crossed two Israeli checkpoints before she was killed, which means that she would have been caught if she acquired a knife.

Also Friday, another Palestinian was killed in clashes with Israeli troops in the West Bank flashpoint city of Hebron.

According to the Israeli defence ministry, a Palestinian man opened fire at soldiers at a West Bank checkpoint before he was wounded and fled the scene.

It’s the latest incident in almost three months of Palestinian shootings, stabbings and attacks using cars.

Palestinian security sources identified the driver as Issa Haroub from Dir Samat village west of Hebron.

Since mid-September, at least 112 Palestinians and 19 Israelis have died in the conflict.

On the same day, another Palestinian was shot and injured by Israeli soldiers after he allegedly opened fire at the troops at the Gilboa crossing near Jenin. “Hundreds of Palestinians are attacking forces, hurling rocks and rolling burning tyres at them”, a spokeswoman said.

“A Palestinian attempted to ram his vehicle into security forces near Hebron” in the southern West Bank, an army statement said.

Israel attributes incitement by political and religious leaders for the violence. She said Israeli forces were searching for the suspect who fled in a van. The military identified the suspect as Mahmad Abd El Halim Abd El Hamid Salam. The Shin Bet intelligence agency said that he confessed to carrying out the assault and Salam is a part of Hamas from the West Bank village of Luban.

The United States, the European Union and the United Nations have expressed concern about the rising death toll, urging both sides to apply restraint, while also recognizing Israel’s right to self-defense in the face of the street attacks.
