McCarthy and Murphy scoop Championship awards for November

“We all know we were below par against Brentford and we had a lot to prove”.

Following Ipswich’s return to form in November, which also led to Daryl Murphy being named Championship player of the month after a return of six goals in four games, McCarthy believes they have the quality to sustain their challenge.

Dons have now gone five games without a win after the 1-0 defeat to Ipswich Town, but Carruthers says the support of the fans at stadiummk gave him a massive boost ahead of the visit of Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.

“Today we could have scored three or four but we had deflections and the keeper had a good game which you can’t do anything about”.

“I enjoy it in there because you get more of the ball and you’re more involved”.

“We need to look at our home record this season, but this league just seems to keep throwing up away performances so of course that’s pleasing”.

MK Dons’ midfielder Samir Carruthers has said the team need to carry on performing like they did against Ipswich Town.

Wilder guided his team wins over Mansfield and Yeovil at Sixfields either side over 2-1 victories away to Notts County and Crawley. I think today’s performance was really good.

“They were bang at it and I’d be thinking “we deserved something out of that” if I was them”. And boss Karl Robinson felt his men deserved a reward for their efforts. “We’ve conceded a few poor goals, so a clean sheet today was good for everyone”. “I was so proud of them at the end and that’s why I stood there and clapped them off the pitch”.

His own personal form mirrored that of his team as the Tractor Boys picked up 10 points from a possible 12.

“It was a really tough, resolute, well-organised perofrmance, I thought, against a team who had lots of the ball”, said McCarthy, whose team, temporarily at least, move into the Championship play-off places. Asked if the Danish defender was okay, McCarthy said: “He’d have been a lot worse had he ducked and it had flown in our net – he’d have got a harder smack on the chin!”
