James Wong, an official charged with restructuring the financially troubled chain, said Kitson is in discussions with other retailers in the hope it will find a way to preserve the Kitson brand.

Iconic Los Angeles-based lifestyle boutique Kitson announced Thursday it began closing its 17 locations throughout California, Oregon, and Nevada, as well as its online store.

A few years ago, Kitson was featured in nearly every paparazzi photo of big-name stars and tabloid fodder like Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Lindsay Lohan.

However, the chain started to grow too quickly and went to places where the rent was too high. It focused more on kitschy or flashy compared to quality of the products. “But that’s hard. You don’t know when the music will end”. Store fixtures, furniture and equipment will also be available for sale.

According to various reports, the store has been having financial issues since 2013, when it received a $15 million credit line to refinance its debts. This may also be considered as a good chance to do some holiday shopping at any of its stores which were magnet for celebrities and consumers who wanted the latest in pop culture. Shopkitson.com is advertising 30 percent to 50 percent off sales in store; shoes are advertised as being 30 percent off.
