Star Wars Universe Will Be “Very Different” To Marvel’s, According To Kathleen

In a recent interview with Slashfilm, Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy revealed that there are several “Star Wars” material that Disney would like to try out.

This may be due to the different personalities of the filmmakers recruited to helm each and every movie, and the fact that the Star Wars Universe has a very different idea of “standalone” movies than Marvel.

So it seems that while Lucasfilm is taking a couple of cues from its sister studio, the company is also going to forge its own, hopefully unique path with the standalone Star Wars Anthology movies.

Creator of the vast and varied Star Wars universe, George Lucas, may not have been involved in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but he did get to see the film before just about anyone else. “We definitely want to do something”.

“The first time I saw “Star Wars” in the theater, I was about six years old and the moment that Darth Vader walked out on screen, I was just immediately taken with the character”, McBride said. “[The standalone movies] are not being created to necessarily build new franchises” [and will] “very definitely have a beginning, middle, and end”. And to be perfectly honest, we have changed the order of those at the last minute, so that’s not the intention at all. “Underworld”, the stories would’ve bridged the gap between the movie prequels and the original trilogy, and writers were hired including Ronald D. Moore (“Battlestar Galactica”) and Louise Fox (“Camelot”). She also said that they can take place “anywhere on the timeline” – meaning the distant past or even the far future – and that “there is no strict guidelines for what we’re doing”. Second, their prices manage to avoid the astronomical heights that some replica lightsabers reach, probably because they manage to avoid official movie licensing (sorry if that’s a dealbreaker for you hardcore fans, but it does allow for a lot more imagination in the saber department).

File this under “things that will tempt you to waste lots of time at your desk”. Considering the depth of the Star Wars galaxy, it could be argued that this model could work even better than something like the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
