Day-night Test cricket is here to stay: ICC

Australia’s pace spearhead Mitchell Starc said on Monday it could be up to four weeks before he knows when he can bowl again after another injury setback in the Adelaide day-night Test.

“It will be very hard for Josh Hazlewood to get through six Tests in a summer and then go to New Zealand and play two more and we also have a one-day series against India”, Marsh said.

“I felt that pleased for the bowlers – because the poor devils had not much going for them in the other two matches [Brisbane and Perth]” Marsh said.

Nathan Coulter-Nile has been named in Australia’s squad for the first test against the West Indies in Hobart, while fellow paceman Scott Boland is on standby.

There has been talk that allrounder Mitch Marsh could be moved down to number seven for the upcoming three-match Test series against the West Indies to free him up and make use of his attacking strokeplay.

Eighty-one per cent claimed that all Test matches at the ground should be day-nighters, while two-thirds also said they would be more likely to attend twilight matches than day-time fixtures.

“I’ve been training for a while now and been bowling for a long time”.

Gilchrist, who was known for his aggressive batting coming down the order had scored 5570 runs from the 96 Test matches he played for Australia. “I would like to congratulate both the Australia and New Zealand teams on a thrilling game of cricket”.

However, with Peter Siddle having back trouble during Australia s three-wicket win over New Zealand in Adelaide on Sunday and team management speaking about managing Josh Hazlewood s workload, there could be more.

Siddle tweaked his back when slipping in the field on Friday but Smith didn’t expect the injury to rule the Victorian out of the first Test against the West Indies starting December 10 in Hobart.

But Richardson, the Windies team manager, called on his young and inexperienced touring team to believe they can upset Steve Smith’s Australians on their own pitches.

The rest of the squad is unchanged from the day-night Test victory over the Kiwis and National Selector Rod Marsh has backed Coulter-Nile to do the business if required.
