A case has been registered against unknown person by Mumbai police officials.

Report suggest that both the victims were cut into pieces and their body were wrapped in cardboards and then covered with plastics, which was later drained near a dumping area by the murderers. The Kandivali police and the crime branch have rounded up some people for questioning.

Sources also said the bodies were not in a decomposed state and that it was possible they were murdered two days ago.

Upadhyay’s body was reportedly found with her hands tied.

“Autopsy reports will reveal the cause of death and whether there were any injury marks on the bodies”, said an officer from Kandivli station. Her domestic help told the police that she did not return home since Friday.

She has won several awards from Gujarat Lalit Kala Academy, national Lalit Kala Academy and national scholarship from the ministry of human resources.

Earlier in 2013, Bhambani had represented Hema in a case after she filed harassment complaints against her husband Chintan and alleged that he had painted obscene sketches on the walls of her room.
