Costa’s frustrations were laid bare at Tottenham nearly a fortnight ago when he threw his substitutes bib at manager Jose Mourinho, after warming up in the second half but not taking to the field.

Chelsea striker Diego Costa admits that a return to Atletico Madrid in the near future is not completely out of the question.

“Life takes plenty of twists and turns – I always wish Atletico the best and I always follow them, support them from far”.

The Spain worldwide played a huge role in Atletico Madrid winning the league title in 2014, before he joined Chelsea in the subsequent summer to lead Jose Mourinho’s attacking line.

A number of players have failed to replicate last season’s form, but Mourinho has named four, who are a shadow of themselves compared to last season.

Diego Costa is determined to move on from his bib-throwing display of petulance and contribute to a Chelsea revival.

Baba played in three of Chelsea’s six games in the group stages.

He said: “I have to improve”.

The Blues midfielder was reported by the Secret Football column to be leading a revolt against the outspoken Chelsea boss in October following the defending Premier League champions’s poor start to the season.

The former Arsenal captain was omitted from Chelsea’s starting line-up for their 2-0 win against Porto on Wednesday night. I think the end of the season is the moment to change things when people analyse the work of the season and believe that the best time is to change.

“I don’t see Cesc differently, but what I see is that every minute the professionalism is there and he is never afraid to have the ball or to be afraid to make a mistake”.

Mourinho thanked the Chelsea fans for their patience, a virtue he rarely experienced from supporters during his tenure at Spanish giants Real Madrid.
