Eddie Redmayne Thanks Hollywood Foreign Press For Golden Globe Nod
Soon after the Golden Globe nomination was announced, Lady Gaga took to Twitter on Thursday to post, “I apologize to my neighbours I ‘m still screaming in my apt in NY!” Left largely on the outside were Steven Spielberg’s Cold War thriller “Bridge of Spies”, which was only nominated for Mark Rylance’s supporting performance; the Irish immigrant drama “Brooklyn”, just nominated for Saoirse Ronan’s leading performance; and “Straight Outta Compton”, the popular N.W.A biopic, which landed nothing the day after the SAG Awards gave it a best ensemble nomination. Romantic drama Carol, let go in November, picked up a hefty 5 nominations with Best Actress actress Blanchett’s critically praised performance – amongst them.

The 2016 Golden Globe nominees were publicized Thursday via live-stream this morning by Chloe Grace Moretz, Dennis Quaid, America Ferrara and Angela Bassett, and included some surprises, as well as some stars getting passed over that had been expected to get a nomination. Actresses Cate and Rooney were both nominated for Best Actress. The nominees for best actress in a comedy or musical are Jennifer Lawrence (Joy), Melissa McCarthy (Spy), Amy Schumer (Trainwreck), Lily Tomlin (Grandma), and Maggie Smith (The Lady in the Van). Still, Ruffalo did get the nod for a nomination for his role in “Infinitely Polar Bear” as a bipolar father.
The nominees for best TV drama are Empire, Game of Thrones, Mr. Robot, Narcos, and Outlander.
The nominees for TV movie or limited series are “American Crime”, “American Horror Story: Hotel”, “Fargo”, “Flesh and Bone”, and “Wolf Hall”.
Besides “Veep”, others nominated in the best TV series- comedy are “Casual”, “Mozart in the Jungle”, “Orange Is the New Black”, “Silicon Valley” and “Transparent”.
According to Vanity Fair, Stallone’s nomination “neatly bookends” his only other Golden Globe nomination in 1977 for the original “Rocky” film.

The eventual winners are decided by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and announced in a ceremony on January 10.
