Vernier further said that a pilot and a technician died in Saturday’s incident, adding, however, that it was unclear whether other people were aboard the aircraft at the time of the accident.

A helicopter carrying a team filming for an MTV reality show has crashed in western Argentina, killing at least two people.

Local official Gianni Vernier said the Bell 206 helicopter crashed as it went over a reservoir at the Potrerillos Dam in Mendoza province, near the border with Chile. Only the two people were aboard and neither was a cast or crew member. Searchers were trying to reach the wreckage, which was about 60 metres (200ft) below the surface, he said.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined. Sailor Florence Arthaud, Olympiac swimmer, Camille Muffat, and boxer, Alexis Vastine, were three French athletes who lost their lives in the accident.

The Associated Press contacted MTV but the company had no immediate comment.
