“We expect that there will be positive response”, Basit added.

“India and Pakistan are prepared for talks. Trust will automatically be built up if the issue is solved”, Basit said while adding that the two countries must now ensure that there are no hurdles in the dialogue. “It was time both the neighbours behave as mature nations”.

The Pakistan High Commissioner further said that just like India, Pakistan is too trying to tackle the terrorism menace.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will make a statement in parliament on Monday about her recent visit to Pakistan, the Lok Sabha was informed on Friday. Kulkarni said that Sushma’s Pakistan visit certainly demonstrates that the two countries were happily veering towards a common understanding on the issue of terrorism. “I will not go into details”.

To a question he said all the concerned issues would be discussed during the talks which would probably begin next month.
