Fires from Christmas tree decorations rare, but deadly

After stringing the lights my mom would sit on the couch, two cardboard boxes that had been brought up from the basement before her, and she’d pull the ornaments out, unwrap them from the musty smelling newspaper, hook them, and hand them to us to hang.

“I won’t work during the holidays because the season is about family,”Abiodun said”.

The branch I gently set it upon it on plummeted down like it’d just caught a 20-pound salmon.

So I’ve asked around at schools as well as friends, relatives and neighbors who are or were teachers to find out what are some of their favorite gifts and what are some things parents love to give but teachers tire of getting. It doesn’t have to be always red, green, and gold!

“People always say, ‘Rick, don’t you need snow to sell Christmas trees?’ I need 60 degrees and sunshine”, he said. I am the one with the garbage bag, cleaning it up as soon as it hits the floor.

I love all Christmas decorations; old, new, fancy or tacky and I own a little something from each of these categories. They wobbled loosely from her back when I found her a place on the pine. Several years ago my sister and I started the tradition back up with the help of our kids.

I had the opportunity to visit with them over the weekend and marveled at the holiday atmosphere they had created. “But the truth is, this is something that I have always wanted to do”. I can tell you the story from “inside the Santa suit”, where it can be very warm and a little tiring.

“That’s going to make grandma happy”, grandpa said. My bare feet rejoiced at the thought of no longer having to unplug lights on cold concrete every night.
