The first contestant through on Sunday night’s results show was Jay, 25, and his partner Aliona Vilani, followed by Kellie, 39, and Kevin. They beat TV presenter Lisa Snowdon and “Negotiate With Love’ singer Rachel Stevens in the live final, back in 2008”.

Kylie Minogue took to the dance floor to add some Christmas flavour to the show, singing “Warm This Winter”, and then came the dance-off.

At the end of Saturday’s semi-final – watched by 9.4 million viewers – Kellie topped the leaderboard with 73 points, Georgia and Jay were on 71, Anita had scored 64 and Katie was bottom with 54 points. Sometimes in the top line you get lost with Gleb.

Katie Derham and Anita Rani wound up in the bottom two, after a particularly hard weekend for Katie, who landed herself with the lowest score of the weekend, with her professional partner Anton du Beke.

Len said: ‘This was very athletic, full on, plenty of attack, however you lost a bit of salsa rhythm.

She added: “I did have knickers on”.

Craig said: ‘You’re certainly one courageous woman! “But, strangely, I enjoyed it”. Nothing that’s been, nothing that could be in the future or in the final, on this one dance. The complexity of that routine!
