The cast of the Westchester-set series “Mad Me” is nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
In the television categories, medieval fantasy saga “Game Of Thrones” and thriller “Homeland” led the way with three nominations each.
In the other ensemble categories, nominations highlight diversity with nods for Straight Outta Compton, Orange is the New Black and of course, Beasts of No Nation, in which Idris Elba is nominated for best supporting actor. Mirren was also nominated for best actress for Woman in Gold.
The winners will be announced in Los Angeles on January 30. Jennifer Lawrence in Joy and Quentin Tarantino’s Hateful Eight cast, both SAG no-shows, could be explained by the films’ late release (both in theaters Christmas Day) and limited screenings.
While Straight Outta Compton was a box office and critical hit, its award season prospects were unknown. Mirren was also nominated for a supporting performance for “Trumbo”.
“The nominees for best film actor are Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant), Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs), Eddie Redmayne (The Danish Girl), Bryan Cranston (Trumbo) and Johnny Depp (Black Mass)”. Mark Rylance received a nod for the movie “Bridge of Spies” and Jacob Tremblay was nominated for his role in “Room”.
However, Elba is the only individual minority nominee in the movie categories of the awards.
Moving up the SAG nominations to before the holiday break may influence Oscar choices more than usual – if only because academy members can consider SAG’s choices when deciding which screeners to catch.
“Trumbo” and TV series “House of Cards” are leading the list of nominees for the 2016 SAG Awards.

In addition to Elba’s nomination, other nominees included Queen Latifah for Bessie, Uzo Aduba for Orange is the New Black and Viola Davis for How to Get Away With Murder.
There were inevitable omissions or snubs in the first round of awards nominations.
“Trumbo” star Bryan Cranston earned a greatest actor nod for his position as Dalton Trumbo, whereas Helen Mirren acquired a greatest supporting actress nomination for enjoying gossip columnist Hedda Hopper.
