Seahawks RB Rawls out for season with ankle injury
Russell Wilson likes playing the AFC North. Seattle is making their annual late-season run again this year, but doing it in a little different fashion than they’ve done so in years past, running away from teams with a potent offensive attack instead of leaning on their normally-suffocating defense.

With their win this week, the Seahawks improved to 8-5.
The Seattle Seahawks are in control of their National Football League clash against the Baltimore Ravens by taking a 14-6 lead into the break at M&T Bank Stadium. “That was tough”, Wilson said. “That’s as good as it gets”.
Wilson was untouched in 32 pass attempts versus Baltimore, and he responded by staying in a clean pocket and passing for five more touchdowns. Wide receiver Doug Baldwin had three touchdown receptions. It also ended the Ravens’ NFL-record streak of 12 consecutive games to start the season decided by eight points or less.
Rawls, who was named the NFL’s Rookie of the Week, broke his ankle in the first quarter.
Wilson averaged 11.7 yards downfield on passes to Baldwin in the first 10 weeks of the season before shortening that to 5.4 the next three weeks. For more context, the only other receivers with eight touchdown catches in a three-game span are Calvin Johnson, Drew Bennett, Cris Carter, and Jerry Rice (who did it twice).
DuJuan Harris is the Seahawks’ leading in-house candidate to be their primary ball-carrier.
The Ravens are resigned to a fate that they are normally not associated with. Another deep postseason run could hinge on Wilson’s arm.
“[It’s the] worst we’ve played all year, by far”, Harbaugh said.
But Baldwin has been crucial in helping Wilson boost his stats to career-high levels, and that scores points. Lynch returned to Seattle this week to continue his rehab. Just exemplifies what we are all about: toughness, and hard-nosed and committed and grit and all that stuff.

Baltimore made it 14-6 after quickly driving the field and kicking a field goal just before halftime.
Ravens offensive coordinator Marc Trestman basically quit calling running plays. The former undrafted free agent turned those seven catches into 74 yards. The Seahawks promoted him to the active roster in time to backup Rawls last week at Minnesota.
In 2012, the Seahawks started 6-5 before winning out until the Divisional Playoff game.
“They give me too much credit”, Lewis said. “I just never got full possession of it. It’s behind me, and I’m moving on to next week”. It could be telling that two teams have already moved on from Michael this season – Dallas did so not long after giving up a draft pick to acquire him from Seattle – and then no team clamed Michael once he was waived by the Cowboys.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said turnovers and allowing the big pass plays were the difference in the game. His status is uncertain. Sherman easily grabbed his second interception of the season – but went down not-so easily.
“Most games – except the ones we have in California or Arizona – we usually leave on Friday”, he said. “Obviously, everything doesn’t happen initially as you would like it. And we just keep at it. Keep on maintaining, pushing, chopping wood and we understand that it will eventually come through for us”.
-S Kam Chancellor has a tailbone injury Sunday against the Ravens.
Unfortunately, those players weren’t in good enough shape to help.
They are red-hot right now, and they outplayed a Ravens team depleted with injuries.
-DE Demarcus Dobbs (concussion) missed his second straight game. Lynch had surgery two week ago in Philadelphia, but there is still no timetable for his return. He has thrown 16 touchdown passes and no interceptions over his last four games, all victories.
