PM Modi to visit Kerala
Modi will fly to Kollam to unveil the statue of the late R. Sankar, who was a Congress leader, a former chief minister and a leader of Sree Narayana Dhama Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam. “The prime minister has insulted the people of Kerala”. Chandy, in a press note, stated he was “deeply saddened” over being kept away from the function following a request of Vellappally Natesan, organiser of the event.

PM Modi will undertake his first visit to Kerala from Tuesday which is already run into controversy with CM Oommen Chandy allegedly being asked to stay away by SNDP General Secretary Vellapally Natesan.
PM Modi will also address the Combined Commanders Conference on INS Vikramaditya on Tuesday.
Clarifying his side, Natesan has argued that official protocol doesn’t apply to a private function, which the statue unveiling ceremony fell under.
Another Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi said Chandy as the CM was holding a Constitutional post, hence it was an insult to the Constitution. Its leader Vellapalli Natesan reportedly told Mr Chandy that “some groups” had opposed his presence at the function to honour R Sanker, a Congressman who belonged to the group and is a past Chief Minister.
Sankar was the KPCC president and a congress chief minister.
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said last week in Guwahati that talks on the GST Bill will not be affected by the party’s protest against what it sees as a government conspiracy against himself and his mother in the National Herald case.
The State BJP leadership expects to open account in the next assembly elections with Mr Modi’s visit and the Prime minister has chosen Thrissur as venue of his public rally rally because of the commendable achievements of the party in the recently held local body elections. The Prime Minister who will be reaching the venue of the rally in helicopter from Kochi will return by road. The governor and chief minister will receive the PM.
He will then move to Vaidika Mutt, where Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore had met the Guru 90 years ago.
