Protestors have been at Bay and Queen Streets since 2:45 p.m. “We can’t do anything with that”, Saunders said.

The city council agreed to create a “level playing field” for Uber drivers in Toronto earlier this year, a significant win for licensed drivers negatively affected by the UberX service. The officer was taken to hospital with minor injuries and the incident is under investigation.

Mughal did apologize for the disruptions protesters made Wednesday evening, but also said if the city does not meet the taxi industry’s needs, protests will be much worse.

“We felt we needed to resist the urge to overcomplicate things”, said Jason Droege, Head of Uber Everything, to Wired. Spinning out UberRUSH would let Uber dive headfirst into logistics, allowing it to take on companies like Postmates and Shyp, and bigger guys like FedEx and UPS. “Risky and divisive tactics do nothing to help”, Tory said.

The UberX driver panicked and stepped on the gas in an attempt to evade the assailant, but the cab driver had different plans and clenched to the vehicle.

“I’m also asking that whoever has put this protest on to have an understanding of the impact that it’s having, and they’re impacting the wrong people – they need to impact the lawmakers, not the average citizen”, he said. He manages to hold on as the Uber drives more than 20metres down the busy road.

The thousands of drivers who came from as far as Hamilton yesterday to demonstrate believe they are following the rules, and being punished for it. It would be irresponsible for them to deliver this news with anything other than the jarring urgency, anger, and frustration they feel.

Your Uber cab will pick you up from any location, front door service so you can stay safe at all times without having to walk to the nearest rank.

“And with groups of taxi drivers getting a little violent [in Toronto] about people moving in on their turf, that kind of stuff doesn’t sell well from from a public perception point either”.

Signs at the protest read “Stop John Uber Tory”, “Stop Bandit Cabs” and “UberX must stop now, hunger strike”. “We want to ensure that every Uber interaction is seamless and easy”.
