Celebrities react to Golden Globe nominations

Some Hollywood stars left out of Wednesday’s Screen Actors Guild nominations got a nice surprise this morning when their names were announced during this year’s Golden Globe nominations.

Sylvester Stallone has waited a long time – 39 years if you’re counting – to earn another Golden Globe nomination.

Some Globe nominees woke to find themselves with more than they expected.

Besides Tomlin, another veteran actress nominated in the best comedy/musical category is Maggie Smith for “The Lady in the Van”, which is equal parts drama and comedy. Since the Academy Awards expanded beyond five nominations in 2009, the SAG Awards ensemble prize has matched at least four out of five nominees every year but one. The Weinstein Company had been promoting Mara in the supporting actress category, even though she won the best actress award in Cannes for the same role.

The movie has been nominated in the best motion picture? drama alongside “Mad Max: Fury Road”, “The Revenant”, “Spotlight” and “Room”. It picked up nods for best drama, actress Brie Larson and its screenplay. Christian Bale and Steve Carell each received nominations for Best Actor for the film.

The 73rd Golden Globe awards will be held January 10 and hosted by Ricky Gervais.

And this category often predicts the nominees for Oscar’s best picture.

In the best director category Ridley Scott (The Martian), Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (The Revenant), Tom McCarthy’s “Spotlight”, Todd Haynes’s “Carol” and George Miller for “Mad Max: Fury Road” have been nominated. This film, and working with Danny Boyle and our awesome cast, has been one of the most creative and unbelievable experiences of my professional life.

Eddie Redmayne, best actor nominee for “The Danish Girl”: “Having the opportunity to help tell Lili and Gerda’s story has been a great privilege for me, and I am hugely grateful for the guidance, generosity and insight given to me by the transgender community”.

The nominees for best supporting actress are Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Helen Mirren (Trumbo), Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs), Jane Fonda (Youth), and Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina).

– “I think any ceremony that has Amy Schumer and Melissa McCarthy at it is immediately worth attending”. Second spot in the list is shared by “The Revenant”, “The Big Short” and “Steve Jobs” with four nominations each. Time Warner TWX -owned HBO received multiple nominations across both awards shows for their series Game of Thrones, Silicon Valley, and Veep.

The nominees for best animated feature film: “Anomalisa, ” “Inside Out, ” “The Good Dinosaur, ” “The Peanuts Movie, ” and “Shaun the Sheep Movie”.

Jenji Kohan, creator of best TV comedy nominee “Orange Is The New Black”: “Very cool to be recognised by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association”.
