French authorities were searching for the perpetrator, who remained at large.
France is still on high alert following the attacks on Paris on 13 November.
Police reported that the teacher – a 40-year-old male – received multiple stab wounds to the throat.
The victim was identified as Tziyon Saadon who is in his fifties.
It is believed the sharp object used by the assailant was a box-cutter or scissors.
The attacker shouted: “It’s Daesh [Islamic State]”.
A hooded man claiming to be acting for the dreaded terrorist group attacked the school teacher as he prepared for classes in a school north of Paris.
Paris prosecutor’s office spokeswoman Agnes Thibault-Lecuivre says anti-terrorism authorities are looking into the incident Monday morning in the town of Aubervilliers.

The attacker was dressed in painter’s overalls and a balaclava and arrived without a weapon but grabbed what appeared to be a box cutter that was lying in the classroom.
