No Head Coach Ambition For Swansea Linked Dennis Bergkamp

The Welsh outfit sacked Garry Monk on Wednesday evening after the 3-0 home defeat to Leicester City capped off a run of just one win in 11 Premier League matches.

Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs has been the latest to be mentioned. It would be an easy way of cutting ties with United, gaining experience in management, and make any disagreements easily covered up rather than come to a head.

The decision on who will take over at Swansea is set to be made in the next few days, with the club keen to have their new man in place ahead of the hectic Christmas fixture programme.

“And (in that case), he’s coming to me”. I never read papers and I think that it’s the truth.

“I can not speak about “if”.

And the 61-year-old, who scored 95 goals in 359 appearances for the club, says the players and staff must take the blame for the dismissal of Monk and three members of his coaching team.

The Swansea fans in The Transfer Tavern have laughed off suggestions that Giggs will be the club’s next manager and don’t see him as a contender for the role.

“I’m not interested in the (Swansea) job”, Moyes told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast on talkSport.

Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp has dismissed the rumours linking him with the Swansea job and said that at the moment he is not interesting in becoming a manager. I let it be known earlier in the week that it wasn’t for me.

After his hard eight-month spell as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor at United ended in April 2014, Moyes attempted to rebuild his career at Sociedad.

Swansea are in the process of drawing up a short-list of candidates and former Sunderland manager Gus Poyet, who is now at Greek club AEK Athens, is expected to be among the names discussed. “He’s shown what he can do and he has to repeat that between now and the end of the season”.

Giggs would appear to fit the mould of young managers Swansea have targeted in recent years, with Roberto Martinez, Rodgers and Monk enjoying success under the stewardship of chairman Huw Jenkins.
