Many children were among those killed, after explosions hit an area near a school in Douma, a human rights group reported.

According to local civil defense sources, Russian warplanes carried out 25 airstrikes on residential areas in the Douma district.
A spokesperson for the Southern Front of the Insurgent Free Syrian Army said about 60 people had already lost their lives during strikes in the Douma area since Sunday.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the towns of Douma, Harasta, Saqba and Arbin, largely controlled by rebel forces, were hit by government missiles, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reports.
An inconsistent death toll is a common problem amid the chaos of war-ravaged Syria, where somewhere between 200,000-400,000 people have been killed in a conflict that has last close to five years, and continues to escalate on an nearly daily basis.
The eastern parts of Damascus have seen some of the heaviest fighting, particularly in recent months. The Syrian army has said its strikes target insurgents that have launched attacks on government-held areas.
The government shelling came against the backdrop of the intensified rebel mortar shelling against several districts of the capital on Sunday.
At least 10 children and four women were among the dead and dozens of people were wounded, he said.
Washington helped broker an agreement reached on Thursday by more than 100 members of Syria’s opposition parties and more than a dozen rebel fighting groups – to send a joint team to meet the government under United Nations auspices next month.
Syria’s state media made no mention of the reported attacks in Eastern Ghouta, but the official news agency SANA said that six civilians were killed and 43 injured as a result of rebel attacks inside and around Damascus.
