Greater Manchester Police has also confirmed that it is investigating hate crime allegations against the boxer.
A change.org petition has already achieved over 130,000 signatures calling for the BBC to rescind Fury’s Nomination.
Homophobic British boxer Tyson Fury will not face a criminal charge after saying homosexuality will lead to the “end of days”.
Asked if Fury’s comments had put her off attending the ceremony, she said: “No, I’m still really looking forward to it”. I don’t care what people think or what people say: he’s entitled to his opinion.
The BBC clearly do not understand that by nominating Fury, who has on a number of occasions expressed homophobic views and compared homosexuality to paedophilia, they are putting him up as a role model to young people all over the United Kingdom and the world.
Fury believes his words have been twisted in the media and said the ethnicity of the team he works with was an example of how he was “uniting Christians and Muslims”.
The 27-year-old got his hands on the IBF belt, along with the WBO, WBA and IBO titles, by defeating Wladimir Klitschko in Germany in November and his next fight will be a rematch with the Ukrainian.
Responding to the world heavyweight champion’s sexist remarks about her – ‘She’s good, she’s won quite a few medals, she slaps up good as well.
“I love all of God’s children”.
In another interview he was asked about his fellow SPOTY nominee Ennis-Hill and said: “That’s the runner, isn’t it?” “If he had made racist comments, and made those comments about people of colour, I think it would have generated a slightly more outraged reaction”.
Meanwhile, Olympic champion Greg Rutherford is believed to have told the BBC he does not want to be part of the vote if Fury remains a contender.
After the complaint was made to police on Tuesday, human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell described the police investigation as “excessive and unwarranted”, adding: “In a free society, objectionable opinions should not be subject to police inquiries unless they involve threats, menaces, harassment or incitement to violence”.

“It’s the panel who decided the list and I think the best thing I can do is stay on that list and represent my performances this year”, she said.
