Apple’s Beats 1 internet radio is set to interview Swift on Monday to discuss the deal.
In the increasingly competitive world of streaming music, high prolife exclusive content provides Apple Music with a clear point of difference and help stave off commodification.
Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL) launched its music streaming service in June 2015.
Users have to subscribe to Apple Music first or try the streaming service for a period of three months to watch the concert video. In June this year, Swift wrote a blog post in which she called out Apple for not paying the artists royalties during the free trials in Apple Music. In return Swift agreed to stream her blockbuster album “1989” on Apple Music. “Are they going to turn my phone off?”
Swift’s 1989 tour began in May and ended the day before her announcement yesterday.
In the special, she performs in front of 76,000 fans. In exchange, Apple will make Swift a major part of its marketing plans, with her likeness appearing on store displays and iTunes gift cards.
“I wondered what it would look like if they were all lit up and dancing around like no one was watching”. She added that she used to be upset about the approach and advised the company to consider the music industry.

The 26-year-old earned more than $240m (£157m) in gross ticket sales for her world tour. “I hadn’t met Fetty Wap before but love him, so we’d reach out and go, “Here are the dates we have”. but then there were people like my friend Selena (Gomez) or Lorde or whatever – I’d just text them”. Swift later explained to Vanity Fair that Apple treated her “like I was a voice of a creative community that they actually cared about”.
