Donald Trump’s idea to ban Muslims is contrary to American values
While the Republican Party has been criticized for employing “dog whistle” politics since the days of Lee Atwater, Trump has thrown out the whistle and begun waving red meat to the dangerously ethnocentric hordes that lurk in the Republican base.

I think that Mr. Trump is trying to take advantage of all of the gullibility that he can and get elected.
Of course, the real Nazis would like to see the plan passed, since they claim non-white minorities are “invading” America, but the split in support even has some Muslim leaders in America claiming that Trump’s idea is solid.
John Washburn, 59, an attorney, also characterised the country as being at war.
“He’s really saying what everybody else is feeling”, said Donna Fee, 57, a personal caregiver from Missouri.
The RNC made all candidates sign a pledge early on that they would support whoever the eventual Republican nominee turns out to be, but Trump has continued his independent run talk by putting the burden on the GOP to uphold its end of the deal. “I’m supposed to be on the other side writing checks”, he said.
“It has been 40 years since Republican Party has been so divided”, said Frank Luntz, a prominent conservative pollster. So people who don’t agree with him, they don’t do the fact checking, and call him out on the lies he’s telling, and people keep buying it. This is going to continue until somebody has enough nerve to get in there and do something about that and challenge the lack of fact that is really – I would say that’s the touchstone of his campaign. A brokered convention would result if no one candidate secured majority support from delegates to win the nomination outright. It would be much more hard to win.
“The challenge for establishment Republicans who are saying nothing is he’s doing long-term damage to the party’s brand”.
“For some Jews, the sight of thousands of supporters waving their fists in anger as Trump incited against Muslims and urged a blanket ban on their entry to the United States could have evoked associations with beer halls in Munich a century ago”, wrote Israeli columnist Chemi Shalev. Senator Marco Rubio, supported by Florida stands at 9%. “Under the laws of the USA we need to be able to follow the religion that we want”, said Dr. Haroon Chaudhry. “The problem is that for the moment there is no anti-Trump”.
The worry of Republican party insiders has grown in recent months as Trump has maintained his lead in the polls.

Next week the Republican would-be nominees will gather for the last time before Christmas for a live televised debate. “Trump will be directly targeted”.
