What Do We Know As The Force Awakens?

Last week, with the Death Star sized buzz leading up to “The Force Awakens”, AL.com put out a call for Alabama’s biggest “Star Wars” fan.

The latest episode has already surpassed $50 million in advance ticket sales in the USA, a full month before it hits cinemas, and analysts expect “The Force Awakens” to outpace the record breaking opening weekend for “Jurassic World”, which debuted with $208.8 million in the U.S.

It’s a grand salute for a film with deep ties to the emirate: a portion of the filming was done in Abu Dhabi’s Liwa Desert in April 2014 – a shoot that was first discovered and captured by The National’s photographers before the pictures went viral and were picked up by news outlets from around the world. “It’s insane. I feel enormously guilty for this community, this neighborhood”.

The official release date for Star Wars: The Force Awakens is December 18, 2015.

In bleachers set up on the boulevard, some fans dressed as X-Wing pilots while others donned outfits from new “The Force Awakens” characters.

The music comes near the beginning, but the entire video is worth watching, if only to see Abrams adorably geek out over working with Williams and to hear Williams call Abrams “baby”.

“We’re really disappointed because we are big Star Wars fans, and we were hoping to at least see a little of the celebrities”, said Natalie Arnet, a tourist from Paris. While there was nothing completely obscene, I’d say the most egregious items were the lightsaber that shoots out a Hot Wheels race care, because light sabers don’t do that, and the M & M “Star Wars” candy dispenser, because there is nothing sweet about Darth Vader.

Actors Chadwick Boseman and Sarah Hyland, and director Steven Spielberg were among the Hollywood stars who attended what could be the largest Hollywood premiere ever. The Chinese Theatre will host the premiere of “Point Break” on Tuesday night and “The Revenant” on Wednesday night.
