New Android Wear update may include interactive watch faces, watch-to

Google’s smartwatch platform, Android Wear, looks set to play catch up with the Apple Watch as well as add new gesture support in a forthcoming software update. A step closer The code suggests it’ll only work on one watch face meaning you and your friend will both need that same design in order to receive messages, however it’s possible Google has changed this since the information was nabbed. Google is actively working on the update and should be launching an API for the new interactive watch faces in the coming weeks.

“With the launch of interactive watch faces, Google will now officially support the single tap gesture”, the report notes.

Android Wear will apparently also come with a new watch to watch communication method that is called Together, this will allow you to share information with other device users in a similar way to the Apple Watch. “Right now, when you tap once, it opens a launch menu for various apps, settings, etc”. Once the update hits next month, you’ll be able to carry out all sort of commands with a single tap on your watch face.

The next version of Android Wear is also expected to bring another big new feature; cross-device communication. “The former would be very unintuitive as users would have to have the watch face selected to send and accept messages from one another”. According to the leak users who wish to use this feature should be using same watch faces, but Phandroid also states that their information on this function is not up to date.

As for the official news of the update we’ll have to wait until at least August, but hopefully once it’s announced it won’t be a long wait.
