Some metro Detroit theaters are pulling all-nighters for this week’s arrival of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. The film could generate more than $9 billion in revenue for Disney and its partners, from cinemas to TV networks, retailers, and toymakers.
Carrie Fisher is best known for her ironic role as Princess Leia in the original “Star Wars” series, but now the people of Los Angeles may know her as more of a saleswoman. “The buzz on this is tremendous”, said Marcus Theatres CEO Rolando Rodriguez.
“‘Star Wars’ for charity”, Fisher yelled to passing cars.
Fortunately, I don’t think the explanation will matter much to Harris-Perry, so I don’t feel too badly about ruining her carefully crafted worldview on the subject. “I wanted to see the old cast members because I grew up with these films”, she said.
“We’re really disappointed because we are big Star Wars fans, and we were hoping to at least see a little of the celebrities”, said Natalie Arnet, a tourist from Paris.
Abrams and Lucas posed together for photos, and both men took time to chat with fans before heading into the premiere.
He added that working with the original cast was the highlight of being a part of the movie, saying: “There was something that ground it in the movies I grew up watching and watching them have this youthful ambition for making it good, they couldn’t be more excited to be there”.
“I don’t know where he got it but he heard something that a child would like, and I don’t know if it was the kind of spaghetti-type lines on it or what, but the next time JJ came by that was what we presented to him and he loved it. Also the silver in those lines kind of reflects and changes colour with the action”.
But let’s say you don’t want to be completely out of the legacy loop, especially if you’re sitting next to fans having a stage-whispered discussion throughout the film.
Actors Chadwick Boseman and Sarah Hyland, and director Steven Spielberg were among the Hollywood stars who attended what could be the largest Hollywood premiere ever.

Third class pupils at Sunday’s Well NS have made their own short film, set at the school, based on the Star Wars movies and have uploaded the film to YouTube. “We have so few things that surprise us anymore when you walk in to see a movie – it’s all told in the trailers; it ends up online way in advance”, Kennedy says.
