Donald Trump slams closest rival Ted Cruz as a ‘maniac’
According to a story from Bloomberg News, its most recent poll shows Cruz has the support of 31 percent of those likely to attend the Republican caucuses on February 1, with Trump at 21 percent.

Senator Ted Cruz surged past Donald Trump in the Iowa polls this week, a stronghold the billionaire businessman had previously held onto since descending on the state fair in August in his helicopter.
Behind Cruz, 10 percent of voters said they would back Sen.
Other candidates weren’t so lucky.
Nationwide, Trump is faring well in the polls.
Jeb Bush continues to lag far behind, only getting support from 7 percent of Republican voters. Among independents, she would capture 43 percent of the vote, compared to 36 percent for Trump.

Some argue that Trump’s appeal among those who are not regular participants in the caucus process will drive turnout higher, much as the hotly contested presidential race on the Democratic side in 2008 did for that party.
In less than a week, Rubio has taken a seven-point dip, as Cruz rises from 26% to 30%.
The opposite happened. Trump’s support went up. In fact, the NBC/Wall Street Journal poll getting all the attention today, the one with Cruz only -5 points behind Trump (27% to 22%), appears to be the real outlier.
His call to ban all Muslims from entering the US may have been criticized by Republican officials, but it has resonated among GOP voters.
“If you want to win, place or show in Iowa and New Hampshire, you have to attack Trump in the Vegas debate and show some chops”, said Republican strategist Scott Reed.

The gloves have come off in the battle between Donald Trump and his new top rival, Senator Ted Cruz. While Cruz said that he likes and respects Trump and Ben Carson, and is “thrilled” that the former is in the race, he also said he doesn’t believe they have the right temperament to be president.
