Kejriwal is expected to meet the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to discuss the issue.

“Perhaps, a deal must been struck between Modi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case which is why he is targeting the Kejriwal government”, Singh tweeted. While Rahul Gandhi blamed the state government for the drive, Kejriwal hit back at him calling the Congress Vice President a “kid”.

“The case has been registered under Section 304 A (causing death due to negligence) at Punjabi Bagh police station”, said Pushpendra Kumar, DCP(West).

Hundreds were left homeless in the rising cold after the anti-encroachment drive by the railway police, allegedly to make way for a new passenger terminal in west Delhi. He also lashed out at AAP government for not making alternate arrangements for the slum dwellers for their rehabilitation. Kejriwal has also sought a meeting with Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu over the issue.

AAP and Trinammol Congress protested close to the Mahatma Gandhi statue outdoors Parliament condemning the demolition.

Kejriwal replied, “Rahul Gandhi ji abhi bachche hain”.

The chief minister was told that the Railways had served notice to the encroachers in Shakur Basti to vacate the land as early as March and again in October but no one had budged. The Delhi government said the demolition violated judicial orders, and were carried out without informing it.

Parents of the dead child say she was asleep at 8 am when they went out to speak to the neighbours about the demolition.

“Act immediately to ensure that minimum need of decent shelter is provided to the homeless displaced population at Shakur Basti”, the bench asked railways and Delhi government. “The chief minister completely rejected the claims of the railways”, a Delhi government official said.

“It will be hard to compensate people who have been living on the (railway) land for 20-30 years”, Delhi Minister Satyendra Jain said.

“The Mayor visited the location and met individuals there”.
