McGregor vows to smash Mayweather-Pacquiao numbers

McGregor said he does not plan to vacate the featherweight belt, and wants to hold two titles at the same time like he did when he previously fought for Cage Warriors. And that’s never been more true after knocking out Jose Aldo, the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter with a 10-year unbeaten streak, in one punch.

Conor McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh, has revealed the challenges the new UFC featherweight champion is set to face in 2016, with a lightweight title shot and a subsequent defence of his featherweight belt against Frankie Edgar top of the agenda.

The pair were scheduled to fight on July 11 at UFC 189; although this didn’t come to fruition due to Aldo withdrawing from the fight with injury.

This however was the exact outcome of the fight where McGregor landing a well timed and accurate left hook 13 seconds into the fight.

The Irish fighter clearly knew his way with words and also in the ring.

Conor McGregor kept his promise that he will win against Jose Aldo in their highly-anticipated match up at UFC 194.

“It still is too hard to digest”, Aldo told Combate on Sunday.

The spotlight now turns to the lightweight championship bout taking place this Saturday between Rafael Dos Anjos (C.) and challenger Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, as the victor may well be Conor McGregor’s next foe.

The Dubliner took just 13 seconds to beat the Brazilian to claim the World title, as the attention now switches to what next for the Champion. “If I go up to that lightweight division there’s no way in hell that I’m vacating my belt”. We trained hard, did everything right, and the result wasn’t positive. “I’m bringing in these half a billion dollar revenues, like the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight has done”, he said. If it were up to the Brazilian, he’d like an immediate rematch against McGregor. Of course, I want a rematch, and I think I have this right. UFC President Dana White has already talked to him about a possible rematch but said that it is too soon to make it happen. “I will be back”. “I don’t care what he says”.
